Top tips for sticking to any New Year’s resolution

In a next-day stupor, you’ve gone and resolved to make your life bigger, brighter and better this year. If you’re concerned about your inflated 2017 life goals, we’ve got the best ways to stick to your New Year’s resolutions – whatever you were silly enough to commit to.

The ‘fitness’ resolution

If you’re gunning to be a healthier version of yourself in 2017, there are plenty of options only a step away from your office door. From killer classes at Aleenta BARRE on Flinders Lane, Kaya Pilates at Emporium Melbourne, and the city’s largest swimming pool at Melbourne City Baths, there’s no excuse for missing a workout this year.

The ‘healthy eating’ resolution

Skip the office cakes and 3pm doughnuts with hidden healthy gem Hunters Roots at Katherine Place. Raw treats, colourful smoothies and salads you’ll look forward every morning await. Foodie favourite Laneway Greens also has a diverse menu of impeccably wholesome salads, along with seasonal options to keep you entertained. Earl Canteen, meanwhile, is perfect for those in a rush, with three franchises in the city.

The ‘quitting’ resolution

Quitting smoking, drinking or something else? Keep yourself distracted with the best things to do this month on our blog. From free festivals to entertaining, intelligent discussions, there’s plenty to keep you busy every morning and night if you’re looking for something to take your mind off your habit. Or perhaps try meditation?

The ‘spending more time with the family’ resolution

Melbourne is filled with family-friendly activities, from the Art of Banksy exhibition (which closes on 22 January!) to the NGV’s bright neon-pink car wash. There is plenty to check out on the weekend, so drag the kids off their iPads and skip the bland playground visits. Head to the What’s On website to check out the latest and greatest in our kids and family section.

The ‘living life’ resolution

Looking to just enjoy life a bit more? See the all of the above and implement immediately (or maybe just take up yoga).
