Where to spend summer nights in Melbourne

Summer should mean lazy days and long relaxing evenings. We’ve found five balmy outdoor events to help you make the most of Melbourne’s warm nights.

MSO Free Concerts at Sidney Myer Music Bowl

Melbourne Symphony Orchestra‘s free concerts are a must-attend annual summer event. The talented local and international members of the MSO will delight for three nights in February. Bask in a selection from Russian composers on 8 February, let the stormy music from Prokofiev wash over you on 11 February, or delve into ballet and dance inspired works on 15 February. Classical music aficionados and novices alike will revel in these performances in this iconic open-air venue.

QV Cinema

QV’s outdoor cinema welcomes every human and their four-legged friend for another sunny season. One of Melbourne’s favourite outdoor cinemas QV Outdoor Cinema’s 2017 line-up promises dog-friendly screenings, themed cinema weeks and vibrant pre-film entertainment. Bring along your best-behaved tail-wagging bud for a night of cuddles, cocktails and cult classics.

Zoo Twilights

The Melbourne Zoo Twilight concerts are a particularly special selection of events. In collaboration with some of the finest local and international musical talent, Melbourne Zoo invites animal and music-lovers alike to join in the fight against animal extinction. Against a twinklingly night sky, bop to beats by the likes of Killing Heidi and Warpaint. Animal exhibits will also be open to ticket holders at dusk.
